Legal Senior Counsel, Market Access

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Legal Senior Counsel, Market Access to join its legal team in Boston, Massachusetts. In this full-time, on-site role, you will partner closely with the business to navigate complex legal questions within a tightly regulated industry.

About the Role

As Legal Senior Counsel, Market Access at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, you will deliver trusted legal guidance and hands-on counseling across a wide range of strategic initiatives and day-to-day matters. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you will act as a key advisor to internal partners throughout the organization, with a particular focus on supporting Market Access functions. This is a Boston-based position that places you at the center of high-impact decisions in the life sciences space.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice and practical counsel on both long-range strategy and tactical projects.
• Support business partners across multiple departments, including Market Access teams.
• Help the organization operate confidently within a highly regulated environment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, assess, and address legal considerations as they arise.
• Report to and work alongside the Assistant General Counsel on priority matters.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a senior legal professional, ideally within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or broader healthcare sector.
• Strong working knowledge of Market Access and the legal frameworks that govern a regulated industry.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for the business.
• Excellent judgment, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Comfort advising on both strategic and tactical challenges in a fast-moving setting.
