Vehicle Condition Assessor

CarMax in Columbus, Ohio is hiring a full-time Vehicle Condition Assessor to join our Easton team. In this role, you'll conduct thorough vehicle inspections and produce detailed condition reports that support fair appraisals and transparent customer transactions.

About the Role

As a Vehicle Condition Assessor, you're essential to CarMax's reputation for quality and reliability. You'll inspect every vehicle in our inventory, documenting mechanical performance, exterior finish, interior cleanliness, and any repairs needed. Your assessments directly enable us to offer customers competitive prices and confidence in their purchases.

What You'll Do

• Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections, testing all major systems and mechanical functions
• Document vehicle condition through detailed notes, photographs, and appraisal reports
• Record mileage, service history, maintenance records, and any defects requiring attention
• Operate diagnostic equipment and follow standardized inspection protocols
• Communicate assessment results clearly to sales teams and management
• Maintain organized records and meet daily inspection targets
• Adhere to safety guidelines while working on and around vehicles in all weather conditions

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history
• Working knowledge of vehicle systems and mechanical fundamentals
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Ability to work independently while meeting productivity standards
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Physical capability to inspect vehicles and work outdoors in varying conditions
