The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Superintendent (HSS) to partner with Newman Operations leadership team within the WAIO HSSEM Business Partnering Team. Reporting to the Eastern Manager HSS, this unique opportunity allows you to further develop and apply your H&S leadership skills and experience in a mature mining environment.

The role provides leadership to teams focused on strategic health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety among employees and contributing to the continuous improvement of safety practices within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Newman Operations leadership team to align H&S strategies with overall business objectives.
• Provide strategic direction and leadership to teams responsible for health and safety initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and company policies.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate hazards.
• Develop and maintain effective communication channels with employees to ensure a culture of safety.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an HSS or similar role in the mining industry.
• A strong understanding of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
• Experience in risk management and incident investigation is highly desirable.
