About the Role

As a Staff Product Researcher at Nelnet Business Services, you'll partner with product, design, and engineering teams to uncover user needs and validate product decisions through rigorous research. Your work spans payment technology platforms, education services, and learning management solutions—products trusted by more than 1,300 higher education institutions and 11,500 K-12 schools. You'll translate complex user behaviors into actionable insights that drive product innovation and improve outcomes for education institutions and their users.

What You'll Do

• Design and conduct qualitative research including user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability studies
• Plan and execute quantitative research through surveys and analytics to validate hypotheses
• Analyze competitive landscapes and industry trends to inform product positioning
• Synthesize findings into clear, compelling narratives that guide cross-functional product decisions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define research scope and translate business questions into research questions
• Lead research operations and provide mentorship to junior researchers

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in product research, UX research, or related user-centered discipline
• Deep expertise with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and draw actionable insights
• Track record of influencing product strategy and collaborating cross-functionally
• Strong communication skills—ability to clearly present research insights and recommendations
• Interest in education technology or mission-driven organizations
