About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and build high-performance control systems for our next-generation quantum computing platforms. You will work across embedded software, real-time systems, GPU/FPGA acceleration, and hardware orchestration to deliver deterministic, high-throughput control pipelines that directly shape how our quantum processors operate, scale, and perform.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance control systems for quantum computing platforms
- Work across embedded software, real-time systems, GPU/FPGA acceleration, and hardware orchestration to deliver deterministic, high-throughput control pipelines
- Collaborate with Atom’s theory, software, and hardware teams on a world-class team of scientists, engineers, and business professionals
- Ensure collaboration with Atom’s office in Boulder or Austin at least 3 days per week for effective teamwork
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a Principal Software Engineer or similar role
- Expertise in embedded software, real-time systems, GPU/FPGA acceleration, and hardware orchestration
- Experience with high-performance control systems design and implementation
- Strong understanding of hardware/software co-design principles
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, or other relevant programming languages
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on performance engineering and optimization
