About This Position
The Open Home Foundation (OHF) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our team in Nelson. This part-time, fixed-term position involves working 24 hours per week with the mission of supporting families and caring for children. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing essential support services to vulnerable children and their families.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Assessing the needs of children and families, identifying risks, and developing case management plans.
- Providing emotional and practical support to families facing challenges such as abuse, neglect, or family breakdown.
- Collaborating with other professionals including social workers, psychologists, and legal representatives to ensure comprehensive care for children.
- Facilitating family reunification where possible and advocating for the best interests of the child.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
Requirements
- A registered Social Worker with current registration with the New Zealand (nationwide) (nationwide) Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (NZHPA).
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children and families, particularly those facing significant challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as independently.
