Position Summary
The School of Biological Sciences at the University of Auckland is seeking a highly motivated and capable Senior Technician to provide comprehensive teaching and research support. This role will involve hands-on laboratory work as well as field activities including research trips and undergraduate day and residential field trips.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting teaching and research in marine biology, including laboratory and fieldwork
- Assisting with the setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities
- Participating in undergraduate day and residential field trips to various locations
- Conducting research activities as required by the school
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation for all activities
Requirements
- A relevant degree in marine biology or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in laboratory and/or field work in marine biology
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
