Position Summary

The School of Biological Sciences at the University of Auckland is seeking a highly motivated and capable Senior Technician to provide comprehensive teaching and research support. This role will involve hands-on laboratory work as well as field activities including research trips and undergraduate day and residential field trips.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and research in marine biology, including laboratory and fieldwork
• Assisting with the setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities
• Participating in undergraduate day and residential field trips to various locations
• Conducting research activities as required by the school
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation for all activities

Requirements

• A relevant degree in marine biology or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in laboratory and/or field work in marine biology
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
