What This Role Involves

The University of Auckland is committed to the Vision 20:20 initiative, which aims to increase the number of Māori and Pacific health professionals through the Māori and Pacific Admission Scheme (MAPAS). The Teaching and Knowledge Hub for Medicine (TKHM) seeks an inspiring individual to support Māori and Pacific students throughout their cultural and educational journey within the Faculty of Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and pastoral care to Māori and Pacific students enrolled in MAPAS.
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and other learning activities that enhance cultural awareness and academic success.
  • Maintain regular contact with students to monitor their progress and address any issues they may encounter.
  • Advise on university policies, procedures, and resources available for Māori and Pacific students.

Skills & Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of Maori and Pacific cultures and the challenges faced by their communities in accessing higher education.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to engage diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students within an educational institution or similar setting.
