Join Qualus as a Senior Engineer specializing in Overhead Transmission Line Design, based in our Reno, Nevada office. About the Role
As a Senior Engineer in our Transmission Line Engineering Department, you'll take ownership of overhead transmission line design projects from conception through completion. You'll perform detailed civil and structural analysis, establish technical specifications, and ensure projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role where your expertise directly impacts the reliability and safety of electrical transmission systems.
What You'll Do
- Design and analyze overhead transmission line structures, including towers, foundations, and support systems
- Conduct civil and structural engineering analysis using industry-standard software and methodologies
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives on schedule and within budget
- Develop technical specifications and design documentation in compliance with IEEE, NESC, and applicable utility standards
- Perform site assessments, route optimization, and feasibility studies for distribution and high-voltage transmission lines
- Review and verify engineering calculations, designs, and project deliverables for quality and accuracy
- Direct project activities, manage timelines, and communicate with stakeholders throughout the design and engineering process
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Nevada or eligibility to obtain one
- 5+ years of experience in transmission line design, structural analysis, or related engineering discipline
- Proficiency with transmission line design software and civil/structural analysis tools
- Strong knowledge of transmission line standards, NESC codes, and utility industry practices
- Excellent project management, communication, and leadership capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and collaboratively
