About This Position

The role of Senior Communications Lead at the New Zealand Government is to lead and manage all internal and external communications for the Civil Aviation Authority and the Aviation Security Service. This position contributes significantly to ensuring safe and secure skies in support of New Zealand's aviation industry.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives
  • Manage internal communications, including staff updates, newsletters, and intranet content
  • Oversee external communications, such as press releases, media relations, and public statements
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms
  • Conduct research on industry trends and best practices in communication
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for aviation safety and security

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as a senior communications lead or similar role within the public sector
  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong understanding of aviation safety and security regulations and policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms
  • Experience in managing crisis communications is a plus
