Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital is hiring a dedicated registered nurse for our medical-surgical unit in Manistique, Schoolcraft County. This full-time position welcomes experienced RNs ready to deliver excellent patient care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
About the Role
As a registered nurse on our medical-surgical team, you'll provide direct bedside care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, post-operative patients, and those requiring surgical interventions. You'll work alongside physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary clinical staff to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Assess and monitor patient health status, including vital signs, pain levels, and clinical changes
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies according to physician orders and protocols
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and catheter management with strict attention to infection prevention
- Provide post-operative and post-procedure monitoring and patient education
- Document patient care, nursing interventions, and clinical observations in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Respond to patient needs and communicate effectively with patients and families
- Support hospital safety, quality, and clinical standards
What We're Looking For
- Current RN licensure in Michigan
- Minimum 1–2 years of registered nursing experience, preferably in medical-surgical nursing
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize care needs
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
- Flexibility, reliability, and a team-oriented approach
