Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Unit

About the Role

The Medical Surgical Unit at Reston Hospital Center provides compassionate inpatient care to patients recovering from surgery or managing acute medical conditions. As a Registered Nurse, you'll be the clinical cornerstone of our patient care team, managing complex medical needs, coordinating treatment plans, and supporting patient safety and recovery every shift.

What You'll Do

• Assess and monitor patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment throughout your shift
• Administer medications and prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and surgery
• Document patient care activities accurately and communicate clinical updates with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient assessments and medical needs
• Educate patients and families about their conditions, medications, and post-discharge self-care
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment and follow all infection control and safety protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, social workers, and other clinical staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care

What We're Looking For

• Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia
• Strong clinical knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and acute patient care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and medical teams
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment and prioritize multiple patient needs
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional integrity
• Experience in a hospital med-surg or acute care setting is preferred
