What This Role Involves

The role of a Pupil Support Assistant at NORTH AYRSHIRE COUNCIL involves providing support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in schools. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that all pupils have access to the education they need, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.

Your Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in the classroom and during school activities
• Assisting teachers in creating inclusive learning environments for all students
• Providing one-to-one support to pupils as required
• Collaborating with other professionals, including special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) and healthcare professionals
• Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and support provided
• Adhering to school policies and procedures related to health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual with experience in working with children who have special educational needs. You should possess excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a team, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to different learning environments.

• A minimum of 1 year's relevant experience
• Understanding of SEND legislation and best practices
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners
• Strong organizational and time management skills
