About the Role

As the Food Service Kitchen Manager (SY 2026-27), you will oversee high-volume meal production in a school dining environment, reporting to the Operations Supervisor and the Director of Dining Services/Resident District Manager. This on-site position in South Bend, Indiana, blends hands-on culinary work with team coordination, food safety oversight, and front-line service to the school community. The posted hourly pay range is $19.00–$24.50.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily institutional food production, ensuring meals are prepared in quantity, on schedule, and to quality standards.
• Apply food safety and sanitation practices throughout the kitchen to maintain a clean, compliant operation.
• Coordinate with the Operations Supervisor and Dining Services leadership on kitchen workflow and service goals.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, parents, and members of the public.
• Support cashier and point-of-service duties during meal periods as needed.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of quantity food production in an institutional or large-scale kitchen setting.
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Solid mathematics skills for portioning, ordering, and service transactions.
• Strong interpersonal communication with diverse audiences, from students to community members.
• Prior cashier experience is preferred.
