Role Overview

RPS, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an accomplished Principal Marine Scientist to join our growing team in Perth. As part of RPS's Marine Science and Approvals division, you will play a key role in defining, designing, and managing projects that create shared value for communities while solving complex environmental challenges through technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of marine science strategies and provide expert advice on environmental assessments and approvals.
  • Conduct scientific research, data analysis, and report writing to support project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to the overall growth of the Marine Science and Approvals team.

Skills & Qualifications

  • A Master's or PhD in marine science, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in marine science with a proven track record in project management and leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of marine ecology, coastal processes, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to stakeholders.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.
