Patient Accounts – Admissions / Business Office – Full Time

Kansas Surgery & Recovery Center, the premier surgical specialty hospital in Kansas, is hiring a full-time Patient Accounts professional to support both Admissions and Business Office operations at our Comotara facility in Sedgwick County.

About the Role

As a key member of our Patient Accounts team, you will serve as a financial point of contact for patients navigating surgical care — from the moment they arrive at admissions through the final resolution of their account. This position bridges front-end patient registration and back-end business office functions, making accuracy, empathy, and efficiency equally essential.

What You'll Do

• Register patients at admission, capturing accurate demographic, insurance, and contact information
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to and at the time of service
• Obtain and document pre-authorizations for scheduled surgical procedures
• Communicate patient financial responsibility clearly and professionally, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket estimates
• Collect patient payments at point of service and process transactions accurately
• Perform medical billing functions including charge entry, claim submission, and accounts receivable follow-up
• Research and resolve claim denials and payment discrepancies with insurance carriers
• Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts in accordance with payer contracts
• Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA privacy and security standards
• Collaborate with clinical staff and physicians to ensure billing documentation is complete and accurate

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience in medical admissions, patient registration, healthcare billing, or a related business office role
• Working knowledge of insurance verification processes and payer requirements
• Familiarity with medical terminology and CPT/ICD coding concepts
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
• Clear, courteous communication skills — written and verbal — when working with patients and payers
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) or practice management software
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in healthcare billing is a plus
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance
