Optometric Technician – Medical Assistant – Part Time

Eyeglass World is seeking an Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant - Part Time to join its team in Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, on a full‑time basis.

About the Role

In this position you will support optometrists and assist customers with eyewear selection while performing clinical and administrative tasks that keep the store running smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Prepare examination rooms and ensure all diagnostic equipment is clean and ready for patient use
• Perform preliminary vision tests, including autorefraction, tonometry, and visual acuity screening under the supervision of an optometrist
• Assist patients with frame selection, lens options, and fitting adjustments to meet their visual and style preferences
• Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health system and handle insurance verification processes
• Manage inventory of contact lenses, frames, and accessories, restocking shelves and processing orders as needed
• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting visitors, answering questions, and guiding them through the checkout experience
• Support the optical lab by pre‑cutting lenses, conducting basic quality checks, and preparing eyewear for same‑day pickup
• Follow all safety, hygiene, and HIPAA guidelines to protect patient information and maintain a clean work environment

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant or optometric technician program is preferred
• Previous experience in an optometric, ophthalmic, or retail optical setting is a plus
• Comfortable using electronic health records and basic office software
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients of all ages
• Detail‑oriented with solid organizational abilities and the capacity to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
• Basic knowledge of lens types, frame materials, and common vision conditions
• Willingness to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting frames or equipment up to 25 pounds
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the store schedule
