Position Summary

This is a full-time, permanent role with an industry-recognized oil and gas legal practice that specializes in energy law across diverse basins. You'll work on substantive title matters, conducting detailed legal analysis and preparing critical documents that drive successful transactions in the upstream sector. This position offers significant client exposure, direct partnership collaboration, and the autonomy to manage a varied caseload in an environment where quality work and work-life balance are genuinely valued.

Core Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive title examinations and prepare detailed title opinions for acquisition, divestiture, and financing transactions
  • Perform legal research and analysis on title defects, mineral ownership, and chain-of-title issues across multiple basins
  • Review and analyze purchase agreements, title insurance commitments, and related energy law documents
  • Manage title due diligence processes and communicate findings to clients and internal teams
  • Collaborate with clients, title companies, and other counsel to resolve title matters and facilitate transaction closure
  • Maintain detailed documentation and prepare work product meeting the firm's high quality standards

What You Bring

  • Juris Doctor degree and active law license to practice in Wyoming or neighboring states
  • Demonstrated experience in oil and gas title law or upstream energy law transactions
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Knowledge of mineral rights, surface rights, and title examination procedures
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple matters with minimal supervision
