Position Summary

The Military Fellowship Program at SNC provides up to six months of hands-on industry experience for eligible service members making the transition to civilian employment. As a Mechanical Engineer fellow, you'll work directly within our engineering teams on real projects, building practical civilian-sector expertise while contributing meaningfully to our operations. This structured apprenticeship—supported by partnerships including SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes—bridges your military background and professional goals in mechanical engineering.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and components under the guidance of experienced engineers
• Support the full engineering lifecycle from concept and CAD modeling through testing and validation
• Contribute to manufacturing and production improvements, process documentation, and technical specifications
• Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams on projects spanning aerospace, defense, or related sectors
• Document technical work and maintain engineering records to support compliance and quality standards
• Participate in professional development and mentorship activities tailored to your transition goals

What You Bring

• Active duty or veteran status with honorable discharge or current service commitment
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline (or equivalent military technical certification)
• Familiarity with CAD software, mechanical design principles, and manufacturing processes
• Problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in team environments
• Commitment to professional growth and readiness to learn industry-specific practices
