Medical Social Worker- Social Services

Marshall Medical Center is hiring a compassionate Medical Social Worker – Social Services in Placerville, El Dorado County, to support patients and families navigating the emotional and social challenges that accompany illness and recovery.

About the Role

As a Medical Social Worker (MSW) within our Social Services department, you will assess the psychosocial circumstances of patients and deliver targeted social work support that helps individuals and their loved ones cope with the realities of medical care. This full-time, primarily day-shift position is based on-site in Placerville and plays a central part in delivering whole-person care. The posted pay range for this role is $38.15–$45.78.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate the psychosocial status, strengths, and needs of patients across the care continuum.
• Provide social work services that address the emotional and social difficulties tied to illness, injury, and treatment.
• Partner with patients, families, and the wider care team to coordinate appropriate support and resources.
• Connect individuals with community services and follow-up care to promote positive outcomes after discharge.
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in line with departmental and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), as indicated by the role title.
• Skill in conducting psychosocial assessments and applying social work interventions in a healthcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities for working alongside patients, families, and clinical staff.
• A patient-centered, empathetic approach to supporting people during difficult health circumstances.
