Yale University is seeking a Manager, Work Life and Child Care to lead our family support and work-life balance initiatives in New Haven. In this full-time role, you'll oversee programs and services designed to help our community balance professional responsibilities with family needs, reporting to our human resources leadership team.

About the Role

This position plays a crucial part in Yale's commitment to supporting employee wellness and retention through comprehensive work-life solutions. You'll manage child care services, backup care arrangements, parental leave support, and related family wellness programs that serve our diverse workforce across campus. Your leadership will directly improve the daily lives of Yale employees and their families.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the administration and continuous improvement of child care services, including partnerships with external providers and on-campus facilities
  • Develop and implement work-life balance policies, programs, and resources that address employee needs
  • Build and manage relationships with child care vendors, educational partners, and community organizations
  • Analyze utilization data and employee feedback to identify gaps and opportunities for program expansion
  • Coordinate backup care services, emergency child care assistance, and other dependent care solutions
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Employee Assistance Programs, and other departments to integrate family support services
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and best practices in child care administration
  • Manage budgets, vendor contracts, and program metrics

What We're Looking For

  • Experience managing child care programs, family services, or related work-life balance initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of child care industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendor relationships and contracts
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Experience working in higher education or a large, mission-driven organization preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, education, or related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels and engage diverse stakeholders
