Security Officer

About the Role

As a Security Officer at Yale University, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a secure environment across our campus facilities and grounds. This part-time position combines vigilance, professional judgment, and community engagement to protect our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

What You'll Do

• Patrol assigned areas and facilities to detect and prevent unauthorized activity, vandalism, and security threats
• Monitor access points and verify credentials, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas
• Respond promptly to security incidents, accidents, and emergency situations
• Conduct thorough incident reports and maintain detailed security logs
• Communicate effectively with campus occupants and visitors, providing directions and assistance
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services when needed
• Perform routine security checks of buildings, equipment, and perimeter areas

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work part-time hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional demeanor and sound judgment in security decision-making
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
• Prior security experience or law enforcement background is valued
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following campus policies
