What This Role Involves
This role involves overseeing and maintaining high standards of facilities within a flagship student residence in Durban. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading teams, managing contractors, and ensuring the smooth operation of all maintenance-related activities.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of maintenance staff to ensure efficient operations
- Coordinate with external contractors for repairs and maintenance work
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and functionality
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
What You Bring
- A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) with trade qualifications in a relevant field such as plumbing, electrical or carpentry
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or similar role within the student accommodation sector
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A hands-on approach to problem-solving and maintenance tasks
