What This Role Involves

This role involves overseeing and maintaining high standards of facilities within a flagship student residence in Durban. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading teams, managing contractors, and ensuring the smooth operation of all maintenance-related activities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of maintenance staff to ensure efficient operations
• Coordinate with external contractors for repairs and maintenance work
• Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and functionality
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

What You Bring

• A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) with trade qualifications in a relevant field such as plumbing, electrical or carpentry
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or similar role within the student accommodation sector
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A hands-on approach to problem-solving and maintenance tasks
