About the Role

Deloitte's Project Delivery Talent Model identifies exceptional developers whose mainframe skills directly meet urgent client requirements. You'll design and maintain mission-critical systems for enterprises across industries, working as an embedded consultant who partners with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges and drive modernization initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Architect, develop, and optimize mainframe applications using COBOL, Assembler, PL/I, or related languages
• Manage mainframe database systems including DB2, IMS, and associated data structures
• Build and maintain CICS and JCL environments to support production operations
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues and critical production incidents
• Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to translate client needs into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team technical standards
• Document system architecture and technical specifications for knowledge transfer

What We're Looking For

• Substantial professional experience developing and maintaining mainframe applications
• Advanced expertise in COBOL, Assembler, or PL/I programming
• Hands-on knowledge of DB2, IMS, CICS, and other enterprise mainframe platforms
• Familiarity with JCL scripting and batch processing systems
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in client-facing consulting contexts
• Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting capabilities
• Clear communication skills and collaborative work style
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
