• Guide day-to-day technical decisions for the data engineering group through reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
• Partner with analytics, product, and infrastructure colleagues to translate business needs into robust data systems
• Evaluate emerging tools and patterns, then introduce them where they improve performance or reduce complexity
• Track system health, diagnose bottlenecks, and drive continuous optimisations for throughput and cost efficiency

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on background in data engineering combined with clear leadership or lead-level experience
• Demonstrated skill in designing ETL/ELT workflows and working with distributed processing frameworks
• Proficiency in core languages and libraries routinely applied in data engineering such as Python or Scala
• Working knowledge of cloud data services, orchestration platforms, and storage technologies
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to communicate technical trade-offs to varied audiences
• Degree in computer science, information systems, or an equivalent quantitative discipline
