SPED Co-Teacher – Math

Alvin ISD is seeking a dedicated SPED Co-Teacher for Math to join our middle school team at Dr. Ronald E. McNair Junior High. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide essential academic support to 6th through 8th grade students with special needs, helping them develop strong math skills and reach their academic potential.

About the Role

As a SPED Co-Teacher in our math department, you'll partner with general education instructors to deliver differentiated instruction, support students in meeting their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, and create inclusive learning environments where every student can succeed.

What You'll Do

• Co-teach mathematics classes, providing targeted instruction and support for students with disabilities in grades 6–8
• Adapt lesson plans, curriculum materials, and assessments to meet individual student learning needs and IEP requirements
• Deliver small-group and one-on-one instruction to reinforce core math concepts and build foundational skills
• Monitor student progress, collect data on academic performance, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
• Implement classroom behavior management and positive reinforcement strategies aligned with school and IEP protocols
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to support student growth
• Assist with testing accommodations and ensure compliance with special education regulations

What We're Looking For

• Valid special education teaching certification or eligibility for Texas SPED certification
• Strong knowledge of mathematics content for middle grades and ability to teach foundational concepts
• Understanding of IEP development, special education law, and inclusive instruction practices
• Experience with differentiated instruction and evidence-based intervention strategies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and support personnel
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued
• Commitment to professional growth and student success
