Graymatter-robotics, a leading Physical AI and robotics manufacturer headquartered in Los Angeles, is hiring a full-time Supply Chain Manager to build and scale procurement operations from our Los Angeles office. You'll own vendor partnerships, strategic sourcing, and supply chain logistics for active production systems serving manufacturers across North America.
Role Overview
In this hands-on supply chain leadership role, you'll architect procurement workflows that keep production moving as deployment volume accelerates. You'll work across engineering, operations, and logistics teams to transform manufacturing requirements into executable sourcing and purchasing strategies. This position requires both strategic thinking—evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and implementing systems—and tactical execution: managing open purchase orders, tracking vendor commitments, and solving delivery shortfalls when they occur.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complete procurement cycles: source qualified suppliers, negotiate terms and pricing, issue purchase orders, and confirm on-time, defect-free delivery.
- Design and deploy procurement systems that deliver real-time visibility into active purchase orders, vendor lead times, and incoming inventory as production scales.
- Establish and manage supplier performance standards around cost, quality, and on-time delivery; drive corrective action when vendors miss commitments.
- Translate engineering and product specifications into sourcing requirements; partner directly with technical teams to source components outside your existing supplier network.
- Forecast procurement needs based on deployment volume and robot rollout schedules; identify supply gaps and plan ahead to meet growth targets.
- Bridge manufacturing and quality teams to accelerate resolution of out-of-spec parts and reduce rework cycles.
- Use procurement software, data tools, and AI-powered research to automate spend analysis, flag procurement anomalies, and streamline sourcing discovery.
- Report procurement metrics, cost savings initiatives, and sourcing effectiveness to senior operations leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of purchasing or procurement management experience in hardware and/or electronics businesses.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or equivalent hands-on procurement experience.
- Demonstrated success building procurement processes and infrastructure in startup or high-growth environments.
- Proven ability to source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers; experience managing supplier performance and resolving delivery commitments.
- Self-directed work style: manage day-to-day procurement independently while knowing when to escalate decisions to stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; proficiency with procurement software and vendor management systems.
- Current and ongoing US work authorization.
- Preferred: Procurement certifications (CPSM, CSCP), global sourcing and logistics experience, data analysis and spend-tracking tools, familiarity with AI applications in procurement, partnership experience with engineering-driven teams, or track record as an early employee owning supply chain at a growth-stage company.
Why Join Graymatter-robotics
You'll work at a well-funded, production-stage robotics company solving real manufacturing problems. Instead of managing procurement in isolation, you'll collaborate directly with engineers and operations teams building adaptive physical AI systems. Your sourcing decisions will impact factory automation outcomes across active deployments. You'll grow procurement infrastructure alongside the business—scaling from current operations to multi-site manufacturing at a company backed by serious capital and deployed in production today.
