Harmony United Psychiatric Care seeks an experienced Inhouse Counsel and Manager of Legal, Compliance & Risk Management to lead our legal affairs and regulatory oversight across our network of outpatient mental health clinics. This full-time position is based in Forest, Florida, and offers the opportunity to shape compliance strategy at a growing behavioral health organization in Florida.
About the Role
You'll serve as the primary legal advisor and compliance leader for Harmony United Psychiatric Care, balancing strategic business objectives with rigorous regulatory requirements in healthcare. This is a hands-on management role where you'll oversee legal operations, compliance programs, and enterprise risk mitigation while reporting directly to leadership.
What You'll Do
- Direct all legal matters affecting the organization, including contract review, negotiations, and dispute resolution
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs aligned with federal and state healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and mental health service requirements
- Manage risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and insurance coordination
- Advise clinical and administrative leadership on regulatory changes and operational implications
- Oversee policies, procedures, and internal controls across the outpatient clinic network
- Serve as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and audits
- Build and mentor a compliance team as the organization grows
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) with active Florida bar license or ability to obtain one
- 5+ years of healthcare law and compliance experience, preferably in mental health or behavioral health settings
- Deep knowledge of healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and outpatient clinic operations
- Proven ability to lead compliance programs and manage organizational risk
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence leadership
- Business acumen and strategic thinking
