Ghost is hiring a full-time Controller in Los Angeles, California to take ownership of accounting operations at one of retail's fastest-growing inventory platforms. About the Role

As Controller at Ghost, you will direct the company's day-to-day accounting and serve as a cornerstone of the Finance & Accounting organization. This is a builder's seat: you will stand up scalable accounting infrastructure, safeguard the integrity of financial reporting, tighten internal controls, and shape cash management strategy. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with executive leadership, you will inform both operational choices and long-range financial planning while guiding the Accounting team and the outsourced resources that support it. The role suits a seasoned professional who does their best work amid rapid growth and constant change.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all core accounting functions, including AP, AR, general ledger, treasury, fixed assets, and deal-level economics.
• Drive accurate, on-time monthly, quarterly, and annual closes that deliver GAAP-compliant statements.
• Oversee outsourced accounting partners, holding their output to internal quality and timeliness standards.
• Build and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls suited to the next stage of scale.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators to keep the company fully compliant.
• Run the invoice management system, approving vendor payments and overseeing customer collections.
• Prepare Board materials, recurring reporting packages, dashboards, and KPI and variance analysis alongside the Finance Lead.
• Manage daily operations in NetSuite, including bank reconciliations, treasury activity, and data integrity.
• Lead audit-readiness assessments and guide the transition toward PCAOB audit standards, recommending remediations for any gaps.
• Partner across Finance, Operations, Engineering, and leadership as a trusted, transparent advisor.

Qualifications

• Active CPA with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent field.
• 10+ years in accounting or controllership, including 5+ years of Big 4 experience.
• Track record managing an accounting team of five or more people.
• Hands-on experience with audit readiness and PCAOB audit standards.
• Strong command of payroll, treasury, bank reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
• Persuasive communicator able to influence and build trust at every level of a fast-moving organization.
