Join the University of Pikeville as a Graduate Assistant supporting our Conference and Event Services team. Based in Pikeville, Pike County, this full-time position offers hands-on experience coordinating campus events while developing professional skills in operations and team leadership.
What This Role Involves
As a Graduate Assistant in Conference and Event Services at UPIKE, you'll be at the center of our campus's most memorable moments. You'll work directly with our Event Services team to manage the logistics, coordination, and execution of conferences, seminars, receptions, and special events held on campus. This role bridges administrative planning with on-site operations, giving you visibility across every phase of event delivery—from setup and execution through breakdown and follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Event Services personnel with daily operational tasks and event coordination
- Oversee and train student workers assigned to event support and setup duties
- Coordinate night and weekend event setups, breakdowns, and logistics
- Manage administrative functions including scheduling, documentation, and vendor communication
- Assist with problem-solving and real-time adjustments during live events
- Maintain event spaces and equipment to ensure readiness for scheduled functions
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a graduate degree
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight timelines
- Experience working with or leading teams and groups
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as event schedules require
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to take initiative and problem-solve independently
