Step is hiring a Finance & Strategy professional for a full-time remote opportunity across the United States, joining the finance organization to partner with the CFO and guide modeling, forecasting, and strategic decisions during a period of accelerated expansion.

About the Role

This Finance & Strategy position places you at the center of company-wide financial planning. You will maintain integrated models and dashboards, surface insights on unit economics, pricing, and investments, and support cross-functional partners in product, operations, credit, and go-to-market. AI-enabled workflows form a core part of how analysis and forecasts become faster and more reliable. As a subsidiary of Beast Industries, Step expects substantial scale over the next one to two years, and this seat reports directly to the CFO while helping navigate that growth with sound judgment and clear recommendations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Build and steward the integrated financial model that links customer activity, engagement, interchange, deposits, credit, and rewards into revenue, margin, and cash figures that serve as the single source of truth for budget, forecast, and long-range planning
  • Advise leaders across product, marketing, credit, and commercial teams on financial strategy, investment choices, and resource allocation grounded in deep command of the numbers
  • Partner with multiple functions to produce targeted analyses and models that inform pricing, unit economics, marketing returns, and priority initiatives
  • Produce concise, high-impact reports, variance analyses, and forecasts that spotlight trends, risks, and opportunities for executive and stakeholder decisions
  • Align closely with accounting and a growing finance group so business and product roadmaps stay consistent with overall financial health
  • Stand up dashboards and scorecards that track the operational and financial metrics that matter most
  • Design AI-supported forecasting processes such as driver-based models, automated variance narratives, and scenario tools that raise both speed and quality of planning
  • Lead monthly business reviews, the annual budget cycle, rolling forecasts, and multi-year plans while contributing to board materials, investor updates, and fundraising work alongside the CFO

Who We're Looking For

  • Five to eight or more years across strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting, ideally with operating time inside a high-growth technology or fintech environment so you can own workstreams immediately
  • Advanced mastery of financial modeling, including the ability to construct complete integrated operating models from scratch, paired with genuine enjoyment of the craft
  • Relentless focus on accuracy so every figure ties out and executives can trust outputs without re-checking
  • Daily hands-on use of AI tools that already accelerate your workflow, plus concrete experience automating pieces of analysis and a clear view of where AI can reshape forecasting and finance
  • Track record of taking full ownership of ambiguous workstreams and driving them independently from question through decision
  • Judgment to form and defend professional opinions while remaining flexible as new analysis emerges
  • Comfort bringing order to open-ended problems and thriving inside a fast-moving, unstructured setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication that distills complex analysis for non-finance colleagues and senior leaders
  • Owner mentality that rolls up sleeves and moves with urgency
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Preferred: background with credit products and lending economics, strong SQL and BI-tool fluency such as Looker, domain familiarity with banking, payments or consumer fintech, or prior experience as an early finance hire at a growth-stage company

Candidates who match most but not every criterion are still strongly encouraged to apply.
