Natchitoches Parish School Board is hiring an ELA Teacher for Grades 7–8 to join the instructional team at our Natchitoches Magnet School in Louisiana. This is a full-time position for educators who inspire middle-grade students to develop critical reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
About the Role
As an English Language Arts teacher, you'll design and teach standards-aligned curriculum that engages seventh- and eighth-grade students in literature, composition, communication, and language study. You'll create inclusive, supportive learning environments where all students can grow as readers and writers, develop voice and confidence, and build foundational skills for high school success and beyond.
What You'll Do
- Develop and deliver daily lessons aligned to state standards and school curricula
- Use varied instructional methods—small-group discussions, independent reading, collaborative projects, digital tools—to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments; provide timely, constructive feedback
- Assign and evaluate written work, presentations, and creative projects
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and academic engagement
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and concerns
- Participate in professional development, grade-level planning, and school initiatives
- Use data to inform instruction and support students who need additional help
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree and current Louisiana teaching certification or licensure in English Language Arts or related field
- Strong command of English grammar, literature, composition, and communication theory
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan rigorous, engaging lessons for diverse learners
- Experience managing a classroom with professionalism and positive discipline strategies
- Collaborative spirit and willingness to work with colleagues, families, and school leadership
- Commitment to student growth and continuous professional development
