Role Overview

The New Zealand Police is seeking a dedicated and reliable Custody Officer to join our team in Wellington. As a Custody Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of detainees while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

What You'll Do

• Assist with the intake and custody of individuals arrested by police officers
• Ensure that all procedures are followed accurately, including documentation and recording of detainee information
• Conduct initial health checks on detainees to ensure their well-being during detention
• Communicate effectively with detainees, staff, and other relevant parties
• Adhere to strict protocols for the safekeeping and release of detainees

Requirements

• Aged 18 years or older
• Honesty, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility
• The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• A valid New Zealand driver's license is required
• Basic first aid certification (training can be provided)
• Previous experience in a customer service or security role would be advantageous but not essential
