Role Overview
Under the supervision of the Youth Site Director, the Youth Counselor is responsible for leading, developing, and building relationships with youth participants in the program. This role involves managing various functions in accordance with the mission, goals, and policies established by administrative staff, governing committees, and the Board of Directors.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for youth participants.
- Plan and implement engaging activities that promote social skills, healthy habits, and personal growth.
- Facilitate group discussions and individual counseling sessions as needed.
- Ensure adherence to YMCA policies and procedures related to health and safety, confidentiality, and program delivery.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding youth progress and well-being.

- A compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for working with young people.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with youth participants, staff, and families.
- Experience in youth development or related field preferred but not required.
