Controller

Mynt Systems is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our Finance & Accounting department in Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County. In this full-time leadership role, you'll report directly to our CFO/COO and take ownership of financial strategy, reporting, and controls that keep our energy transition mission on track.

About the Role

As Controller at Mynt Systems, you'll direct all accounting operations and financial management for our vertically integrated energy company. Based at our Santa Cruz office, you'll oversee general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, tax strategy, and internal controls while partnering closely with executive leadership and our engineering and construction teams.

What You'll Do

• Manage all aspects of accounting operations, from daily transaction processing through month-end and year-end close procedures
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings
• Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
• Direct the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance management
• Collaborate with the CFO/COO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
• Oversee tax planning and payroll administration
• Maintain relationships with external auditors and tax advisors

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting or controllership experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial controls
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
• Demonstrated leadership ability and team management experience
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience in energy, construction, or engineering industries is a plus

Compensation & Details

This exempt position offers a competitive salary of $115,000–$140,000, based on relevant experience. The role is located in Santa Cruz, California at 111 Mission Street.
