Construction Quality Assurance (CQA), Landfill & CCR Technician

WSP USA is recruiting a Construction Quality Assurance (CQA), Landfill & CCR Technician to support our Civil, Ground Engineering & Materials division in Essexville, Bay County, Michigan. This full-time technician position plays a critical role in ensuring construction quality and regulatory compliance on solid waste and coal combustion residuals projects.

About the Role

As a Construction Quality Assurance Technician, you'll provide on-site technical oversight for landfill and CCR (Coal Combustion Residuals) construction operations. You'll work closely with our engineering team to verify that all construction activities meet design specifications and environmental standards. Your observations and documentation will directly support project success and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

• Perform field observation and inspection of landfill and CCR construction activities
• Conduct material testing and verify soil compaction according to design requirements
• Document construction progress and maintain detailed quality assurance records
• Monitor daily landfill operations and CCR disposal procedures for compliance
• Identify discrepancies and communicate findings to project managers and engineering staff
• Support adherence to environmental regulations and construction safety standards

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED (technical certification or some college preferred)
• Experience with construction observation, materials testing, or quality assurance work
• Working knowledge of solid waste management or landfill operations
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical fieldwork
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
