Position Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in La Place, Louisiana. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care through advanced laboratory testing and support services within the Blood Bank division.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex blood bank procedures including crossmatching, antibody identification, and compatibility testing.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results to healthcare providers.
• Participate in quality control and assurance programs to maintain high standards of laboratory performance.
• Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure the best possible patient care outcomes.

Skills & Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field is required for Clinical Medical Laboratory Scientist position. A Medical Laboratory Technician must have an Associate’s degree and state certification/licensure.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or similar organization is preferred for both positions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in blood bank laboratory operations is a plus.
