Western Express is actively hiring full-time CDL-A Dry Van Truck Drivers based out of Gadsden, Alabama (East Gadsden, Etowah County), with immediate openings for both company drivers and driver trainers ready to hit the road as soon as possible.
About the Role
This is a company driver position hauling dry van freight on OTR and regional routes out of the Gadsden, AL area. Western Express has recently increased its pay package, offering $0.40 to $0.48 per mile — putting serious earning power in your hands from day one. Entry-level CDL-A holders are welcome to apply, and experienced drivers interested in trainer positions will find opportunities here as well.
What You'll Do
- Operate a tractor-trailer hauling dry van freight across OTR and regional lane networks
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with FMCSA regulations
- Manage hours of service accurately using an electronic logging device (ELD)
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding load status, delays, and route changes
- Deliver freight safely, on time, and with care for cargo integrity
- Driver trainers: mentor and evaluate student drivers, providing hands-on instruction and performance feedback
What We're Looking For
- Valid Class A CDL issued in the United States
- Clean driving record with an acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR)
- Entry-level drivers considered — no minimum OTR experience required for company driver seats
- Strong commitment to safety, DOT compliance, and professional conduct
- Ability to operate across state lines on OTR or regional routes from the Gadsden, AL region
- Driver trainer candidates should hold a demonstrated track record of safe, professional driving
