Bilingual/Bicultural Advocate

Susan B. Anthony Project is hiring a Bilingual/Bicultural Advocate for our on-site office in Torrington, Litchfield County, Connecticut. This full-time position offers meaningful work serving your community through culturally responsive advocacy and support.

Role Overview

As a Bilingual/Bicultural Advocate, you'll bridge cultural and linguistic gaps for individuals navigating complex systems and seeking essential services. Working 37.5 hours per week, you'll maintain a standard Monday–Friday schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus participate in rotating coverage for evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. This on-site position in Torrington, CT places you at the heart of our community's advocacy efforts.

What You'll Do

• Deliver culturally informed advocacy and support to diverse clients and community members
• Provide fluent interpretation, translation, and cultural liaison services
• Help individuals navigate social services, healthcare, legal systems, and institutional resources
• Build trusting relationships and serve as a bridge between clients and the broader community
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with colleagues and community partners
• Participate in community outreach, engagement, and educational initiatives
• Support our organization's mission of facilitating healing and empowerment

Requirements

• Genuine bilingual and bicultural competency—fluency in English and Spanish or other languages serving our community
• Demonstrated commitment to advocacy, social justice, or community service
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
• Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work rotating schedules as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or additional education valued
