Senior Director of Acquisitions

The National Wildlife Federation is hiring a Senior Director of Acquisitions to lead nationwide face-to-face and direct mail fundraising that builds a sustainable base of monthly and single-gift donors. This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States (nationwide) (nationwide) with occasional travel.

About the Role

Reporting to the AVP of Membership Programs, the Senior Director of Acquisitions will shape and carry out a national plan to recruit high-value monthly supporters through street and door-to-door canvassing, secure single-gift donors via direct mail, and steward outside vendor relationships. You will own both new-donor acquisition and the ongoing management of the sustainer program, working to lift retention, lifetime value, and dependable long-term revenue. The ideal candidate is an organized, deadline-focused, and entrepreneurial self-starter eager to apply their expertise to the Federation's ambitious conservation goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and roll out a multi-year approach to expand face-to-face monthly giving and single-gift direct mail acquisition.
• Set yearly goals for revenue, donor counts, cost-to-acquire, retention, and lifetime value.
• Direct national face-to-face operations across internal staff and external partners.
• Run and refine the monthly sustainer program, from onboarding and stewardship to upgrade paths and retention.
• Track and strengthen key metrics such as acquisition cost, average monthly gift, 12-month retention, and long-term value.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, and profit-and-loss accountability.
• Partner across departments to fold monthly donors into broader multi-channel engagement.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in direct marketing at a large, multifaceted nonprofit, agency, or corporate organization.
• A track record of building marketing campaigns from initial vision through message development.
• Proven project management strengths, sharp attention to detail, and consistent on-time delivery.
• Hands-on experience with face-to-face and direct mail campaigns and integrating content across channels for stronger results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated experience selecting and managing vendors and outsourced functions.
• A commitment to understanding cultural and systemic racism and intersecting forms of social inequality.
• Passion for protecting wildlife and wild places; conservation experience is a plus.
