Role Overview

The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing building systems to ensure the safety, comfort, and functionality of UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services (H&HS) facilities. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other departments to address complex problems.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various building systems
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential issues before they become major problems
  • Work with other maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and service requests in a clear and concise manner

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or vocational certificate preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Strong mechanical skills with experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations
