The Opportunity
The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking a Medical Language Interpreter for the JSH Labor & Delivery department on a casual basis. This role will provide essential communication support between patients and clinical staff in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise between patients, clinical staff, and administration to ensure clear communication during medical procedures.
- Translate medical information accurately and efficiently between English and Spanish.
- Use Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint for documentation purposes.
- Operate multi-line phones to manage incoming calls and messages related to patient care.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of medical interpreting experience. Fluency in both English and Spanish, as demonstrated through UTMB-approved proficiency testing, is essential. Strong customer service skills are required to effectively communicate with patients and staff.
