What This Role Involves

As Head of Cathode Development you will set the technical direction for cathode materials work, guide multi-disciplinary teams, and turn research concepts into practical development outcomes. The role is based in Changzhou, China and requires close partnership with adjacent engineering groups, clear prioritisation of project milestones, and ownership of quality, safety, and performance targets that matter to product readiness. Responsibilities

• Define and steward the multi-year cathode development roadmap and research priorities
• Lead and mentor scientists, researchers, and engineers working on cathode materials
• Oversee synthesis, formulation, characterisation, and performance evaluation of cathode candidates
• Drive scale-up activities from laboratory concepts through pilot-relevant processes
• Coordinate closely with cell design, process engineering, and quality partners to align deliverables
• Review literature, intellectual property, and competitive advances so the team stays current
• Manage project resources, timelines, and risk while reporting progress to leadership
• Establish and uphold laboratory and development standards that support reproducibility and safety
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost efficiency, and material performance gains

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in materials science, chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related field
• Substantial hands-on and leadership experience in cathode materials research and development
• Proven record managing R&D teams and delivering structured technical programmes
• Deep familiarity with cathode material systems, electrochemical testing methods, and characterisation techniques
• Experience taking materials work from early research stages toward process robustness and scale
• Strong analytical judgement, clear written and verbal communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a full-time, on-site environment at the Changzhou, China location
• Comfort setting technical standards, coaching talent, and making data-driven decisions under uncertainty
