The Opportunity

This Employment Counsellor/Job Developer, WorkBC Cloverdale - Full Time - Fixed Term until March 31, 2027 post with Mosaicbc in Surrey, British Columbia places you at the centre of practical career support for local residents. You will guide diverse job seekers, open doors with area employers, and help people move from assessment to sustained employment while contributing to clear caseload results until the contract end date of March 31, 2027. The position is full time and based on site in Surrey rather than remote.

What You'll Do

• Complete thorough intake assessments to identify skills, barriers, and employment goals for each client
• Co-create realistic action plans that combine training, job-search tactics, and staged milestones
• Deliver one-to-one coaching and small group sessions covering resumes, interviews, networking, and workplace readiness
• Prospect and nurture relationships with Surrey and Metro Vancouver employers to uncover openings and arrange placements
• Match qualified candidates to suitable roles, support hiring conversations, and follow up on retention
• Maintain accurate case notes, track outcomes, and prepare required program reports in a timely manner
• Coordinate referrals to complementary community resources when additional supports are needed
• Stay current with local labour-market trends so advice remains practical and relevant

What We're Looking For

• Post-secondary education in career development, counselling, social services, human resources, or a closely related field
• Hands-on experience as an employment counsellor, job developer, or similar client-facing career role
• Demonstrated ability to build trust with multi-barrier job seekers and tailor support to individual circumstances
• Proven skill in employer outreach, cold canvassing, and converting contacts into concrete job leads
• Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and cultural sensitivity
• Comfort using case-management systems, Microsoft Office tools, and labour-market databases
• Strong organization, time management, and capacity to balance caseload priorities under deadlines
• Knowledge of the Surrey, British Columbia employment landscape and WorkBC-style service models is an asset
