About the Role
The Progressive Step-Down Unit provides intermediate-level care for patients transitioning from intensive care. As a CNA/Healthcare Tech, you'll be a vital part of this team—directly supporting nursing staff while building meaningful connections with patients and families during their recovery. This full-time, day-shift position offers the opportunity to develop healthcare skills in a structured, supportive environment at Carolinas Medical Center's Charlotte location.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs—blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration
- Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing staff
- Support nursing staff with patient care procedures and equipment handling
- Maintain a clean, safe patient environment and manage patient belongings
- Assist with basic healthcare technology and electronic medical records as directed
- Communicate compassionately and professionally with patients, families, and the care team
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification required
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Physical ability to lift, transfer, and support patients safely
- Comfort with basic healthcare technology and willingness to learn
- Compassion for patient-centered care and attention to detail
