Assistant Attorney II (Transportation, Public works & S.A.V.E.)

The City of Atlanta Department of Law is seeking an experienced Assistant Attorney II to support the Operations Division, specifically serving the Transportation, Public Works, and S.A.V.E. program teams. This full-time position offers an opportunity to provide critical legal counsel supporting Atlanta's public infrastructure and transportation initiatives.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Attorney II in the City of Atlanta's Department of Law, you will be the trusted legal advisor for the Transportation and Public Works teams. This role centers on delivering comprehensive legal services that support the City's operations, from regulatory compliance to contract management and dispute resolution. You'll interpret state and local laws, guide departmental decision-making, and help protect the City's interests while serving Atlanta's residents and infrastructure needs.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and written opinions on transportation, public works, and related regulatory matters
• Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documentation
• Advise City departments on compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations
• Manage ongoing legal matters, including case monitoring and settlement discussions
• Research emerging legal issues affecting public works and transportation operations
• Collaborate with departmental staff and external partners to resolve legal questions
• Maintain detailed documentation and track legal developments affecting City operations

Skills & Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active Georgia bar license or ability to obtain one
• Experience in municipal law, administrative law, or related practice areas
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
• Professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in legal documentation
