About This Position

CEDARS Youth Services is seeking a compassionate Child Specialist to join our community learning programs in Lincoln. In this part-time role, you will directly support the developmental, emotional, and social needs of children and youth. Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll create safe, nurturing spaces where children can build trust, develop resilience, and experience the stability they deserve.

Core Duties

• Provide direct supervision and support to children and youth in our community learning programs
• Create safe, welcoming environments that foster trust and emotional security
• Implement developmentally appropriate activities and interventions tailored to individual needs
• Build positive, supportive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• Monitor and document child wellbeing, progress, and behavioral observations
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and program leadership
• Support children in developing social, emotional, and essential life skills

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Genuine passion for working with children and youth
• Ability to build rapport and trust with children from varied backgrounds
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Reliability and consistent, on-time attendance
• Physical capacity to actively engage with children
• Alignment with CEDARS' commitment to child safety and family stability
• Ability to pass background checks and clearances as required by Nebraska
