Repair and Tool Technician

Home Depot is hiring a Full-Time Repair and Tool Technician in Amarillo, Potter County to diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical tools. This hands-on position combines technical skill with customer service as you restore equipment to peak performance and help customers select the right tools for their needs.

About This Position

As a Repair and Tool Technician at Home Depot in Amarillo, you'll perform skilled diagnostic and repair work on a wide range of equipment in our Tool Rental Centers and dedicated repair facilities. You'll ensure every piece of equipment meets quality standards, provide expert recommendations to customers, and maintain detailed service records. This is a full-time position that offers hands-on technical work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Core Duties

• Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment (mowers, trimmers, chainsaws), and handheld electrical devices
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to identify equipment failures and needed repairs
• Rebuild, replace, and test components to restore equipment to working condition
• Recommend appropriate tools and equipment to customers based on their specific applications and needs
• Document all repair work, parts used, and service outcomes for inventory and warranty purposes
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety protocols
• Support Tool Rental Center operations by preparing equipment for rent and conducting post-rental inspections

Requirements

• Experience repairing small engines, outdoor power tools, or similar mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of handheld and corded or cordless electrical tools and their operation
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to help customers
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varied temperature conditions
