Congregate Residential Counselor- Relief

Our Open is seeking a compassionate Congregate Residential Counselor – Relief to join our residential care team in Roxbury Crossing, Suffolk County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support young people experiencing trauma and behavioral health challenges within a trauma-informed care environment.

About the Role

As a Congregate Residential Counselor – Relief, you'll provide direct supervision and mentoring to residents in our group living setting. Working evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, you'll help create a safe, healing community where young people develop resilience and essential life skills. Your role bridges residential care and therapeutic support, implementing structured routines while responding with compassion to each resident's needs.

What You'll Do

• Supervise residents during daily activities, meals, homework, and recreational time
• Implement behavioral support strategies and reinforce positive choices consistently
• Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations and emotional escalation
• Monitor safety and wellbeing throughout your shift, documenting observations and incidents
• Collaborate with clinical and treatment staff to implement individualized care plans
• Model healthy coping strategies and build therapeutic relationships grounded in trust
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a professional, supportive workplace culture

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting youth facing adversity and trauma
• Emotional maturity, patience, and ability to remain composed in challenging situations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass background clearance and obtain required certifications
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to complete if not currently held
