Caregiver / Direct Support Professional / DSP

RHA Health Services is seeking a dedicated Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team in Greenville, Pitt County.

In this full‑time position you will provide compassionate support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and substance use challenges, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life.

About the Role

As a DSP you will work directly with clients in residential and community settings, implementing personalized care plans and fostering skill development. The role emphasizes building trusting relationships, promoting safety, and encouraging participation in meaningful daily activities.

What You'll Do

• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility.
• Support medication administration and monitor health status according to prescribed protocols.
• Help individuals develop life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and using public transportation.
• Facilitate community integration by accompanying clients to appointments, recreational events, and vocational activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, observations, and progress toward goals.
• Respond calmly to behavioral concerns, using de‑escalation techniques and following agency guidelines.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, nurses, and case managers, to ensure coordinated care.
• Participate in required training sessions and adhere to all safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to help others.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Basic computer proficiency for electronic record keeping.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Previous experience in caregiving, direct support, or a related human services field is a plus but not required.
